Tomato Juice Cocktail

  • cups tomatoes fresh or canned
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • ¼ cup green pepper chopped
  • ½ bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp. onion chopped
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp. horseradish if desired


  • Cook together the tomatoes, celery, green pepper, bay leaf, and onion — about 20 minutes for fresh tomatoes, 10 for canned.
  • blend until smooth, return to the pot; whisk it thoroughly.
  • Press through a sieve.
  • Add salt, Worcestershire sauce, and horseradish to tomatoes.
  • Chill.
  • Mix well before serving.
